On Call Firefighter vacancies

HOLSWORTHY FIRE STATION 24th October 1900 – 2100hrs

If you live or work within 5 minutes of Holsworthy Fire Station pop along to the above and speak to one of the team.

The On-call element of Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service is fundamental to our emergency cover across Devon and Somerset.

Retained On call Firefighters come from a variety of backgrounds – they could be self-employed, full time parents, trades people, administrators or shopkeepers with a common interest to support and keep their community safe.

You will be providing a part time service, responding to fire and emergency calls in the same way as Whole-time Firefighters. Incidents can range from attending fires, floods, road traffic accidents, chemical spills, and talking to your community about fire prevention.

Firefighters may be called out a couple of times a week for may be one or two hours during the day, evenings or weekend. You decide the hours when you are available – all we ask is for you to be flexible. The minimum hour’s contract is 63 hours per week (part cover) and 84 hours per week (full cover).
