About Holsworthy
A traditional Market town, Holsworthy is one of the most rural yet beautiful areas in Devon! Each Wednesday, there is a Pannier Market, where locals mingle with visitors in the Market Square. This is the hub of rural life in our little town. Holsworthy market and fair charters are believed to date from the 12th Century. St Peter’s Fair week is held in early July each year.
The main event of the week is the crowning of the Pretty Maid. Holsworthy has a range of essential services. A variety of small shops clustered around the square, which includes, several inns, cafes, banks, medical centre, dentist, community hospital, sports gym and a large modern Memorial Hall, which always holds events and activities. As well as a new state of the art and thriving cattle market.
Holsworthy offers the best of both worlds – the peace of the countryside and yet easy access to the major attractions of Devon and Cornwall. There is excellent farm based accommodation around the town. Come and see for yourself what a wonderful little town we are!
